We are a fun, mixed family of Portuguese and Filipino-American heritage that is excited to get to know Leiden and the Netherlands better with our au pair. Pedro and Nikki have two funny, loving, smart girls, Kenzi and Ayja, that are the center of our lives and we love to have fun as a whole family, like going for walks and bike rides, exploring nature, going to the beach, and visiting new places. Pedro and Nikki are both working and studying in fields that allow us to help others, as these are values that are very important to us and that we instill in our children.

What are you looking for and expecting from an au pair? What will you expect from the au pair?

We hope that an au pair will blend into our family well, and enjoy spending time and having fun with the kids when watching them. They love to read, learn, sing and dance, and we hope that the au pair can have the energy needed to keep up with our little ones. We plan to establish a trusting and honest relationship with the au pair, especially when it comes to caring for our children. We will always respect the au pair, and ask the same of him/her. We do like things nice and neat, and plan to collaborate closely with the au pair on shared household tidiness.

What fun things can the au pair do around town, and what can your family offer to the au pairs during the au pair experience?

Leiden has many nice areas to explore, is close to the beach, and also easily accessible by train to many other cities like Amsterdam, the Hague, and Rotterdam. We are new to Leiden and happy to explore the area together, or provide recommendations for self-exploration. We are open to flexibility in hours as long as we coordinate in advance.
