Bent is starting at preschool (2mornings a week) from september, so it is more comfortable and relaxed for him to stay at home and have is own rhythm the rest of the week (and that is ofcourse also relaxed for me ;-)).

Tell au pairs about your children, your job, values, hobbies and fun things that make you a nice family!

Hi I am a single mom of a lovely son (2,5years). He is developing normally, as currently everything is no ;-), has a lot of jokes, is active, and likes to hug a lot. I work in the hospital as an anesthesiologist - pain specialist. My hobby's are doing activities with my son, family and friends, bootcamp, running, yoga, holidays.

What are you looking for and expecting from an au pair? What will you expect from the au pair?

Our first aupair was a relative of friends and stayed until May 2022. We experienced this as a very good period, it was a perfect match, and gave peach at home. So I took some time when she left to consider how to continue with childcare, and here I am. What we expect is to be at ease from both sides, it is important to be comfortable with each other. In the beginning I will take time to let you adapt to your new situation. Practically: I work four days a week, currently Bent is going 2 days to daycare and 2 days to my mother. From September Bent starts at pre-school (=2 mornings) and I would like to give him rest in the morning and easily home-coming afterwards. I am an anesthesiologist and have to leave 6.30 until (mostly around) 18.00u. So my ideal au pair situation: 1 day daycare and 3days au pair. In those 3 days Bent is going 2 days to preschool and half a day to my mom. Taking care of Bent is of course the most important task, though doing some households and cooking (2days for you / 1day for my mom) is very helpful.

What fun things can the au pair do around town, and what can your family offer to the au pairs during the au pair experience?

We live in Gameren, a quiet place, which has a train-station 15min bike. From the trainstation you easily connect to eg Den Bosch (10min), Utrecht (30min), Amsterdam (60min). I gave our former au-pair a weekend public transport card, and she enjoyed trips with other aupairs. Hopefully this short comprehension gives some idea of our lives. Please don't hesitate to ask further questions
