Both our daughters will be in primary school from February 2023 and we would like them to be home after school, play with friends and go to several classes. We think with an au pair it would be a perfect match. We also think it is good for our children to learn about other cultures and languages.

Tell au pairs about your children, your job, values, hobbies and fun things that make you a nice family!

We are a family of four. Two girls Vivian and Isabelle. Vivian (6) has a great fantasy while playing and is very sweet, a little shy and eager to learn. Isabelle (3) is the youngest. She is very funny, likes to sing and talks a lot. Every morning the first thing she asks if she can go drawing. Frank (the dad) works for a software company 5 days a week. Marlize (the mum) works for an asset manager 5 days a week. In our free time we love to cook and go places. Frank also has two older children of 18 and 16 years old. They don't live with us, but come by at least every two weeks to catch up. We also like to go on holiday, so if we have some spare time we go to places, with the family or with friends.

What are you looking for and expecting from an au pair? What will you expect from the au pair?

First off all we like the au pair to be nice to the children of course. The children go to swimming lessons, dancing class, and piano lessons. The au pair will bring the children to the different lessons. Also the au pair is ok with friends who come play at our place. We think it is important that the au pair also has enough time to create an own group of friends to go out with. We don't have a very vast structure (apart from the school times and working hours). So it would be nice if also the au pair is flexible in our joint planning. We think about planning two weeks ahead. We are active people, so it will be nice if the au pair is an active person as well.

What fun things can the au pair do around town, and what can your family offer to the au pairs during the au pair experience?

The Netherlands is a really nice place and Utrecht is in the middle. Utrecht is a nice city with very nice old parts, canals and shops. We will be happy to take you to different places; the beach, Amsterdam, the woods, flower fields in spring and on a boat tour and other high lights of our country. We are also open for ideas of the au pair and also will allow the au pair to go to different places if it fits the planning.
