We're a family of five, with three daughters—ages eight, two and one month. We live in Almere, which is a short distance from Amsterdam. My husband and I are Brazilian and English respectively; our main language in the household is English. We're young and also a vibrant, mixed family. You can call us blended! My husband and I both work full-time jobs at home; although we work from home, sometimes we have to go into an office in Amsterdam. Our oldest daughter goes to school there as well; all of her after-school activities are there too. She is the most active of the three. She does gymnastics and horseback riding, so for this role it would be great to have someone who can drive and manage their time well so that my daughter can get to school on time and to her activities. We are also a dog family! We have three dogs - we really need a dog person to join our family!
What are you looking for and expecting from an au pair? What will you expect from the au pair?
We need an au pair who is responsible, tidy, accountable and that can connect with our kids. Our kids need to like you and you need to like them. We really need a person that can integrate and can care for them with love and passion. I need someone I can count on and someone who really cares for the job. The person needs to respect our household and our routine and really be willing to commit to the job.
What fun things can the au pair do around town, and what can your family offer to the au pairs during the au pair experience?
We live 25 minutes from amsterdam and there is a bus stop 3 minutes away from our house with straight busses to amsterdam daily.
